Where the name comes from

Dakota is usually glossed as 'ally', from the Dakota language.

Why this moment matters

Watching a snowball grow as you roll it is half the fun of building a snowman - and the pushing gets harder with every turn.

The story behind this song

Dakota pulls on fuzzy mitts, pats a small snowball and rolls it across the backyard until it is big enough to be the bottom of a snowman.

A winter song for baby's first Christmas

Snow outside and a warm room inside: a winter song for baby's first Christmas and the cold weeks around it.
