Naomi chalks her handsAnd runs across the matTwo feet up in the airAnd down she comes like thatGo Naomi cartwheel roundHands down and feet up highBouncy bouncy stick the landTwo arms up to the skyThe bar is up so highShe swings and lets it goHer ponytail flies upAnd tickles her big toeGo Naomi cartwheel roundHands down and feet up highBouncy bouncy stick the landTwo arms up to the skyChalk dust on her noseGrass stains on her kneeNaomi counts her stepsThen flies for one two threeGo Naomi cartwheel roundHands down and feet up highBouncy bouncy stick the landTwo arms up to the sky

Where the name comes from

Naomi comes from the Hebrew No'omi, related to na'im, 'pleasant' - traditionally translated as 'pleasantness' or 'my delight,' best known from the Book of Ruth.

Why this moment matters

There's a particular pride in a first real cartwheel that has nothing to do with how good it actually looked.

The story behind this song

Chalk dust on her hands, one determined cartwheel across the mat, and both arms thrown up at the end like she'd landed it perfectly.
