Gracelyn's playing in the sunA butterfly says come have funIt flutters high it flutters lowGracelyn follows on tippy toeIt lands right on a sunny bloomThen off it goes zip zip zoomShe runs and runs then stops to seeIt's dancing round the maple treeButterfly Gracelyn flap flap flapFlutter your arms and clap clap clapUp and down and round we goButterfly Gracelyn fast and slowIt lands so softly on her noseA tickle tickle down to her toesThen up it floats to say goodbyeA yellow dot up in the skyButterfly Gracelyn flap flap flapFlutter your arms and clap clap clapUp and down and round we goButterfly Gracelyn fast and slow

Where the name comes from

Gracelyn is a coinage from Grace and Lyn.

Why this moment matters

Following a butterfly is a lesson in quiet and patience, and for a toddler the chase itself is the whole point.

The story behind this song

Gracelyn plays in the backyard sun and follows a yellow butterfly on tiptoe as it flutters high and low, rests on a bloom and zips off again.
