Where the name comes from

Ella is usually a shortening of Eleanor or Ellen, and is now widely used on its own.

Why this moment matters

Hopscotch is a game children have drawn on pavements for generations, and the counting and hopping are learning disguised as play.

The story behind this song

Ella chalks a row of numbered squares on the driveway, tosses a pebble, and hops through on one foot and two to grab it from the top.
