Where the name comes from

Alice comes from the Old French Aalis, a shortened form of Adelaide - itself from Germanic elements often rendered as 'noble' and 'kind' or 'sort,' though the exact original compound is debated by name historians.

Why this moment matters

Every family seems to have one recurring Saturday like this, and it's usually the ritual, not any single cake, that a child remembers.

The story behind this song

Saturday mornings mean flour on the counter and a stool pulled up beside grandmother, measuring by feel instead of a recipe.
