Ford wakes up with the morning sunOff to the hen house here we runGrandpa holds the basket tightThe chickens cluck with all their mightFord peeks in a nest of hayA speckled egg is tucked awayHe holds it gently warm and roundAnd sets it down without a soundCluck cluck Ford come sing alongEveryone join the hen house songOne egg two eggs three eggs fourHen house Ford finds more and moreThe rooster struts across the yardThe hens all peck and scratch so hardWe tiptoe home with steps so slowCluck cluck the hens say off you goCluck cluck Ford come sing alongEveryone join the hen house songOne egg two eggs three eggs fourHen house Ford finds more and more

Where the name comes from

Ford comes from an English surname for someone who lived near a ford.

Why this moment matters

Gathering eggs is a farm chore a small child can really do, and carrying a warm egg without dropping it is a big responsibility.

The story behind this song

Ford wakes early and heads to the hen house with Grandpa, finds a warm speckled egg tucked in the hay and carries it to the basket very gently.
